MYRICA pennsylvanica NORTHERN BAYBERRY

The northern bayberry is a dense, rounded deciduous shrub that has glossy, leathery grayish-green to dark green leaves.  When the leaves are crushed, they are aromatic.  It is best planted in full sun and is used as a border, screen or hedge.
